EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing)

EMDR is a structured psychotherapy approach recommended by WHO (World Health Organisation) in trauma recovery and for those diagnosed with PTSD.

It’s an 8-phase, evidence-based approach in helping those who have experienced a single traumatic event, or multiple traumas.

EMDR Group Therapy

Ceit is pleased to be co-facilitating therapy groups using the evidence-based EMDR group format, G-TEP (Group Traumatic Episode Protocol). These are groups for 4-10 participants. ACC Therapy

If you are a survivor of sexual trauma, you may be eligible for therapy under ACC Sensitive Claims. Ceit is a contracted ACC-ISSC provider to provide therapy to survivors of sexual trauma.


EAP Counselling

Many employers offer short-term counselling to employees. Ceit is contracted to EAPWorks and Vitae to provide EAP counselling. If you aren’t sure if your employer offers EAP, you can contact HR.

How do I know if I need counselling?
Sometimes there is a misconception that counselling is only for people struggling with serious illness. Counselling can be a useful tool for anyone, at many different life stages for many different reasons. Whether it’s to help you as a result of a crisis, to explore some new ways of thinking and being, or to move forward from an issue, counselling can help.
How long is a session, and how many sessions will I need?
Typically a session will go for an hour. The number of sessions can vary from short term solution-focussed to longer term support.

Are counselling services confidential?
Ceit works within the NZAC Code of Ethics, which means that counselling is confidential and that your information remains private. The only exceptions are: at your request, where required by law, or if the safety of yourself or another person is seriously at risk. NZAC registered counsellors are ethically required to attend regular clinical supervision, during which anonymous information may be shared.
